Help by giving your time - Volunteer:
We offer several unique volunteer opportunities for people to share their time and talents for the good of others. Some volunteer programs/positions are ongoing and require a regular time commitment. Others are seasonal or on an as-needed basis. Volunteers are placed according to their interest and skills.
- providing transportation to and from medical appointments and errands (mileage reimbursement available to qualified drivers)
- visiting or calling homebound older adults
- delivering holiday meals
- assisting with projects at the Adult Day Health Centers
- performing periodic chore projects (lawn-raking, window-washing, etc.)
- providing clerical support
- organizing, supporting and/or leading Witwer Healthy Aging Programs and activities
- assisting with tax preparation, rent reimbursement forms and other financial documents and more!

Interview with our Community Services Coordinator
Complete criminal background checks, adult/child abuse checks, and an Iowa DOT Driver's license check
Attend an orientation session.

Drive older adults to medical appointments, the grocery store, or Milestones Adult Day Health Centers. Mileage is reimbursed.

Chore Services & Home Safety Volunteers
Construct wheelchair ramp; inspect a home for fall, fire, and personal security risks; make small home repairs; or help with yard maintenance projects.

Friendly Visitor Volunteers
Brighten the day of an older adult by visiting them in their homes. Play cards, read books, or enjoy a nice conversation. Excellent opportunities for families.

Witwer Healthy Aging Volunteers
Lead programs, lay out snacks and games, take attendance, provide support for participants, encourage new participants to join in, assist with registrations, and otherwise help keep programs running smoothly.

Call older adults to check in on their well-being. Calls are made Mondays-Fridays between 10-11 a.m.

Adult Day Health Center Volunteers
Enjoy the adult day health center experience by helping with an art project, assisting in the computer lab, or leading a group activity.
